Black Friday tips for Nigerian shoppers
Big sales can save you money, or tempt you into spending more than you planned. These habits help you come out ahead.
1. Make a list before the sale starts
Write down what you actually need, with the model, size or specification. A list keeps you focused when the adverts start.
2. Set a budget and stick to it
Decide the most you will spend in total, not per item. Add delivery fees before you decide whether something fits.
3. Track the prices in advance
Look up the items on your list now, and note the normal price. When the sale starts, you'll know whether a "discount" is a real saving.
4. Be wary of fake countdowns
A timer that resets when you refresh the page, or a "only 2 left" message that never changes, is a sales tactic. It does not mean the deal will end soon.
5. Check returns before you pay
Sales items are not always easier to return. Read the returns policy on the product page, particularly for electronics and fashion.
6. Compare across shops
The same product can be cheaper at a different shop, even on the same day. Our deal list brings current discounts from several shops together, so check it before you buy.
7. Don't buy just because it's on sale
A 50% discount on something you wouldn't normally buy still costs money. If it's not on your list, wait a day before you decide.
